We have learned that a skilled sailor must be able to adapt to changing conditions, while keeping safety as a top priority. Our world has shifted during this time of uncertainty. Now, it's time to carefully move forward.

Park City Sailing plans for an on-time start to the season and is prepared to adapt to the current, and possible future scenarios we may encounter with COVID-19. Jordanelle State Park is now open to visitors from all counties. Staff has been able to step the masts on four boats thus far as well as make repairs and organize equipment to prepare for launch. More to come!

Our goal is to begin the season by making the Access program available to individuals and families/quarantine partners. We will be posting guidelines for boat use that will include procedures for cleaning equipment and avoiding contact with others.

Two weeks from now we look forward to offering private sailing lessons (one-on-one with an instructor) as well as group lessons with limited enrollment- keeping groups to a maximum of two people in a boat at any given time (including the instructor). Instructors will wear masks and participants will be encouraged to do the same. As the COVID-19 situation improves and regulations allow for larger groups to congregate, we will continue to increase class sizes.

By June 8th we plan to start our Junior Sailing Camp while maintaining the same strict standard of health and safety. The exact protocol in June will depend on state guidelines for outdoor recreation. The initial outlook is quite promising, however reduced class sizes, clean equipment, and routine hand washing will be a standard, as well as the possibility of sun and germ barrier (buff) masks and personal hand sanitizer.

Laser racing will be a simpler situation to manage. Sailors are alone in their boats and our new race committee boat is large enough for two people to be six feet apart. Routine cleaning of equipment will be protocol.

Elliott racing will depend on state regulations and overall member interest. If you hope for Elliott racing to happen this season, please sign up so we can make a determination. Full refunds will be offered on ALL programs if we are forced to cancel.

The bottom line is we want to continue to provide you and your family with the opportunity to sail safely this summer! Please know that Park City Sailing needs your help to make this happen. Please sign up for membership and enroll in programs right away!

Huge thanks to those that have recently signed up for membership and summer programs. It is you that are helping us continue to shape our 2020 season.
