Lara is especially proud to share this passion with her daughter, Soleil, who has developed strong sailing skills over five years in the junior sailing program and is now stepping into a volunteer role to help grow and support the adaptive sailing program alongside her.
Born into a multicultural family and having lived across Europe and the United States, Lara brings a global perspective and fluency in five languages to her community involvement. Her professional background spans retail, investment management, and the successful operation of small businesses, where she has led teams, built customer-focused organizations, and delivered strategic growth. She brings a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset that is now central to her work in helping build and expand Park City Sailing’s adaptive sailing program.
Scott VerMerris
Executive Director-scott.vermerris@sailpc.org
Scott grew up sailing on the Great Lakes, Lake Erie to be exact. His family's home port is Vermilion, Ohio.
Scott made the pilgrimage in 1999 out west for skiing, college, and a career in experiential education and wilderness therapy. Scott's lifestyle living between Utah and Colorado over the past two decades landed him not only working in wilderness therapy and teaching sailing, but also working as a professional skier and marketing guy for Icelantic Skis.
Scott is a licensed captain and has a passion for teaching and helping others grow personally through sailing. When he's not sailing in the Great Lakes or Utah, or working and playing in the snow somewhere, you can find him running charters in various parts of the globe, working with families and student groups.
Scott has been a head instructor, a program director, and active member of Park City Sailing for over 10 years. He took on the role as Executive Director for PCSA in 2019, and has taken the lead on running and developing the organization he calls, "a huge part of his heart and soul".
