Elliott 6m Fleet Revitalization in 2022

At the April 2022 Sail PC Board meeting the motion to purchase new sails for the Elliott’s was APPROVED. New mainsails, jibs and spinnakers are on order! Delivery is scheduled for before the start of Thursday night keel boat racing in June.

As part of the revitalization program for the fleet, plans are afoot to leverage the Elliott’s in the Junior Racing Program, an adult Intro to Racing Program (details to be released shortly), and in some corporate sailing events being added to the calendar now.

The Elliott 6m Class was originally launched in the United States to support Women’s Match Racing in the 2012 Olympics in London (check out the 2012 Olympic Medal Race). Unfortunately, the Women’s Match Racing was not continued in later Summer Olympic Programs. This change resulted in some Elliott 6m Fleets being for sale and eventually donation.

After much effort from members and the Sail PC Board along with some key donations, Sail PC was awarded the donation of 8 Elliott 6m boats from Sail Sheboygan (SEAS). Several shipping containers were received with lots of sails, spare parts & masts, and more. It was an exciting day at Sail PC.
