6/16 Tuesday Night Laser Racing Recap and Results
A windy night for the books!
A cool northerly met the racers on Tuesday night who gathered to the South of the mooring field with Wyatt Pike in charge of running the races. A consistent breeze in the 8-10 range with occasional gusts in the 12-15 knot range made for some exciting sailing, especially coupled with the cold water. The course was set with a short windward leg with one of the longest and most fun leeward legs we've seen in ages (we couldn't see the leeward mark it was so long). Boat handling was at a premium with auto-tacks, crash gybes and tough roundings the norm for the night. Sixteen boats made it out Tuesday night for the third night of racers in the upper teens. We're looking forward to the warmer weather that may bring us into the twenties! Congrats to Paul Swan to showed his fitness level, digging post holes and putting up his picket fence for the night (all first place finishes). Welcome to Keegan who made his first appearance on a chartered PCSA Laser. Thank you to Wyatt Pike and the Mark Boat crew for both running races and handling the cold and wet sailors who needed a little assistance.
