Courses are held from 6pm - 8pm on the following four Wednesdays:

Cost: $400 for 4 nights of classes
Where: Sail PC - Lake View Center, and sailing Elliotts on the Jordanelle
Pre Reqs: Understanding the basics of sailing. E.g. parts of a basic sailboat, how a sail works, and 3 basic points of sail, and the difference b/w upwind and downwind sailing.
This 4-pack of classes, offers an introduction to racing on a keelboat. The class focuses on the fundamentals of racing, how to rig and set up an Elliott 6M, and how to sail and race as a team of three. Students will spend time in the classroom learning the fundamentals of racing, crew positions, teamwork and tactics. Each night (weather permitting), there will be on-the-water training where students will learn how to rig and set up the boat and then practice sailing and boat handling. We will coach students on how to sail the boat efficiently, how to start a race, and how to navigate and sail around the course. The class will cover the rules of racing and basic strategy. It is recommended that participants understand the basics of sailing. E.g. parts of the boat, how a sail works, and 3 basic points of sail, including the difference between upwind and downwind sailing.
