Some of Scott's favorite memories as a junior sailor were sailing on high wind days with older kids and also racing with older kids who could teach from inside the boat (while planing). As an instructor I have really enjoyed seeing junior sailors apply their skills to racing. The Junior regattas are always a blast. Most fun Alex has had as a jr sailor was trying to load a greased up watermelon out of the harbor and onto hisopti. The most fun Chris has ever had coaching sailing would be the time one of my students a 9 year old named Alex won his first regatta in green fleet, he was super stoked. And it was particularly satisfying not because he won but because when he first started sailing a few weeks earlier he was terrified of the boat and sailing. After this summer, Venice will be moving to Hawaii to study (and sail) at the University of Hawaii.
The most fun Venice has had in Jr Sailing: Three years ago her coach organized a 420 race team at RYC for the summer. Though she was already friends with many of those invited to the team she didn't expect to become as close as they are today. Venice made her best friends that summer. Everyone kept learning and competing and growing up together for the next several years. Venice couldn't imagine what the past few summers would have been like without traveling, camping, sailing and spending so much time with her team.
